Jackfruit-bronzing disease, caused by Pantoea stewartii subsp. stewartii, has recently become more common in the jackfruit crop. disease was first discovered Philippines 2014 and spread to Malaysia Mexico 2017. Outbreaks of reduced quality fresh jackfruit, lowered market value local yield losses production financial setbacks processors. This is aggressive toward jackfruits with a sweeter flavor high Brix composition. Symptoms are observable when fruit cut open, indicated appearance rusty specks yellowish-orange reddish discoloration infected pulps rags. Extensive research needed better understand pathogen’s nature pathogenicity, supporting future prevention recognition pathogen-host interaction. review explores significance jackfruit-bronzing bacterium, its biology, diagnostics, pathogenomics, emphasizing virulence management strategies mitigate this disease. Understanding destructive bacterium will guide growers agricultural practitioners develop most efficient sustainable control methods.
